When it came to an abundance of barren worlds available for claiming Nate could think of no better realm than Spore. The game featured an entire galaxy to explore. As the gummi ship dropped out of the ocean between and into the still cartoonish yet more realistic outer space of the game, Nate double checked that he and Selina were properly equiped. "Make sure you're wearing those adaptation charms I made for you." He remarked as a reminder. He'd custom crafted for her a set of accesories/trinkets with enchaments anagolous to his own modified necklace of adaptation.

Combined not only would they protect her from the vacuum of space, they would also regulate her temperature via endure elements and allow her to ignore planar traits via a planar adaptation effect. The wizard also ended up deciding to also make this trip his initial forray into GURPS magic particularly technomancy, energy, and most importantly radiation spells. As such by the time they had arrived he'd also been able to set them up with so charmed trinkets against radiation.

"Heh with this gear we should be set up for proper space wizardry." He chuckled as he then turned to the ships console and began searching for a suitable planet. "Hmm what do you think of this one Sel? This could make for a good planet Eris." He asked as the screen displayed a barren icy planet. "There are no life signs on it nore any of the surrounding planets in this system. As long as it doesn't turn out to be inhabited by some race of robots or otherwise inorganic yet sapient entities, then we should have free reign to completely cut loose with any magic we can bring to bear."

Selina sat up in the copilot seat as Nate started talking, doing her level best to act like she hadn't been sleeping the entire time. Amazing as the greater multiverse was, she still had to admit that traveling through it was one of the more boring things to do with an afternoon. Lots of black, followed by more black and possibly a dead, shadow-covered planet here and there. Not the most spectacular scenery. However, when Nate finally got her attention, she had to eat her words on that slightly; the Spore galaxy was filled with planets far too tightly pulled together to make any sense in terms of astrophysics, but having a hundred unique worlds stretching to infinity was quite the sight to see, starting with the gleaming ball of ice taking up a fair amount of the viewport.

"Heh, sure! Let's make this happen!" Selina picked up her staff from where it was resting against the back of her seat and snapped on her charm bracelet, letting the protective magics wash over her. It didn't feel anywhere near as strong as the power of her staff or amulet, but if it got the job done that was all that mattered.

Once he was fully reassured that they were both properly warded Nate teleported the two of them out into the truly airless void of space outside the ship. He felt the magic of his charms form a protective corona against the hostile conditions they now found themselves immersed within. Within the protective layers of his charms things were downright cozy. Nate thus found himself excitedly reveling in the accomplishment of now truly being a space wizard.

<Haha yes! The spells are working perfectly on my end. How bout you Sel?> The magical girl's chaos magic could sometimes throw a wrench into things but ultimately as far as he could tell it at least seemed to have some sort of vested interest in keeping her alive. He was now resorting to the use of a telepathic bond he'd established in anticipation of the fact that sound wouldn't travel through the vacuum of space. <If anything goes wrong tell me right away ok?> Nate suppressed a minor blush. The problems caused by his associates chaotic effects were often quite a nice sight to see... But at the present moment they could end up being a deadly serious matter, which served to sober his current thoughts on the matter.

Selina too had been wary about what her own powers might do, but as they stepped out into the void it turned out she was doing pretty well. Nate's magics held up as well as ever, and for a moment she even considered turning them off and letting her own powers try their hand against the emptiness of space. She quickly reeled those thoughts back in, even if she might've been right, and looked around before looking back down at the planet.

"Everything is working fine! What's the plan from here?"

"Hmm not much of one really other than cut loose and throw everything you have at that planet. It's completely uninhabited so it's the perfect place to test the furthest limits of what your powers can do. Especially now that you have that new staff. If you end up shattering the planet which honestly I don't doubt is a possibility then nothing at least nothing of value will have been lost. Heh this world is your punching bag Sel. So... come on and show your moves!" Nate remarked.

Meanwhile...

Billions of lives cried out in anguish as their world continued to burn. The forests of the previously lush jungle planet had already withered away and now the oceans were gradualy begining to boil. A beam of terraforming energy struck the surface from up above. High in orbit N8-Thanos reveled in the misery and anguish caused by his actions. He currently existed as a swarm of networked gumi ships armed with technologies plundered from this galaxy. The terraforming tools he'd aquired were perfectly suited for the annihilation of life.

He'd already swept through an innumerable colletion of worlds like this, sowing genocidal carnage along the way. There was a method to his malevolent madness however. His destruction of these worlds was always an intentionally slow and gradual one durring which he bombarded the populace with messages and propaganda.

"There is salvation in the darkness. Give in to your pain, misery, and anger. Embrace those feelings and harness their strength. Those with the will to do so can live on. Accept the darkness into your hearts and you can live on beyond the the death of your world." His words were indeed true enough to an extent. Even as he was killing off the world the malevolent AI was observing the populace through his fleet of ships in orbit. Whenever a heart fell to darkness the resultant being was whisked away to safety by a tractor beam. He made a grand show of this especially when an individual's fall also resulted in a nobody. Those were the individuals with the greatest wills. His broadcasts lauded the magnitude of their spirits. Those with the will to spawn not just one but two entities from the fall to darkness.

In this way the ranks of forsaken hearts and will driven bodies under the ghost's dominion increased.

Well, if Nate wanted her to really cut loose, this certainly seemed like the sort of place for her to do it. She summoned her uniform in a flash of light and the amulet resonated with the steady, sub-audible hum of her staff, channeling off of each other and building to incomprehensible levels. She had never used her powers for anything like this before, but she closed her eyes in concentration and summoned together the biggest punch she could. The energy came together from all around her, and for a moment the tip of her staff seemed to be absorbing the light around it as she focused on pure, endless destruction. With a cry she loosed a ball of purple lightning that sped downwards towards the surface, impacting and making a crater barely visible to them.

"Well, that was a little disappointing. Got any tips on..." Her words were cut off when the planet started to glow slightly, ancient mountains bursting with lava. Some sort of tectonic action, long simmering beneath the surface finally broke its bonds, and right before their eyes the planet's tectonic plates lurched and shifted, causing hairline cracks of glowing red light to form around the entire planet before the whole thing ripped itself apart and the pieces drifted out away from each other.

"...Well."

"... Well then... Dayum, Congrats Selina. You are now officially a person of mass destruction." Nate remarked after taking a moment to process the apocalyptic display. "I hope that from now on you try to keep in mind that with planet busting might comes great responsibility." The wizard said this in a wry tone as he then proceeded to cast libra on his companion. He tried to get a read on her body's current status and energy levels as he began asking her about her current condition.

"So umm... How are you feeling? Do you feel drained or tired at all? Any pain, strain or other uncomfortable /inconvenient sensations?" According to his spell she was still brimming with energy. If there weren't any hidden costs or tolls then she could probably proceed to anihilate other planets left and right. The planetary destruction wasn't that impressive. He could manage the same. What was really notable however was the seemingly casual ease with which she had pulled it off. She'd just destroyed a heavenly body without coming out the slightest bit worse for the wear and plenty of fuel left in her tank so to speak.

"Yeah, pretty much. I mean- Woah." She paused and her eyes took a moment to readjust, the entire universe looking oddly different for a long moment before snapping back to normal.

"Okay, having weird purple flashes, that's weird. Is it some sort of backlash or something that you can see?" She had never done anything anywhere near that big before, and as such she was already preparing for the worst. She was just starting her journey, after all; she couldn't risk dying already or losing her powers in anything short of the best heroic sacrifice. The vision problems had been temporary, but she was worried about what else might've changed that would be more subtle.

Nate shifted his libra powered gaze through her being. He analyzed diffrent aspects of her metaphysical anatomy untill he found an anomaly near the regions pertaining to sight that matched her description of blinking. "Ah hmm, I think I can see what you're talking about. Seems to be pulsing in tune with the mana flowing through you. Seems like you can't quite handle channeling all that energy at once."

Her physical body was perfectly fine and healthy but on closer inspection there was some strain to her mental and spiritual conditions. Ama had been teaching him how to gaze into the intangible aspects of an individual's health, but he was still prone to missing subtle nuance unless it was pointed out or his attention was otherwise specifically drawn to it. There were incredibly fine microfractures in her metaphysical anatomy.

"Ok yeah it's probably best you try to avoid doing that too often in the future then... At least untill we learn more about your powers." He then said as he attempted to channel an esuna and cura effect towards her spirit. "There is a possibility that it's like a muscle and that continued exertion on a regular basis will make your strength and stamina for handling the energy grow. But there is also a possibility that the injurious backlash from channeling all that force may just grow worse from over use..." As his magic washed over her mind and soul he asked "How about now? Is it getting any better?" Bodily healing came much more easily to him but under angelic tutalage the mage was gradualy making progress in his dealing with the restoration of the intangible and inmaterial.

"Doesn't seem any different, but... Yeah, I actually have no idea how I would tell." She couldn't help but notice that a purple swirling pattern had begun to appear on her arms after a moment, which as far as she could tell was a side-effect of her less-than-normal magic. She was hoping it would go away as she vented the excess magic, but if nothing else it was kinda pretty. She could deal with it if it did end up being a permanent tattoo.

"Think there's some sort of vent function or something?"

"Hmm there might not be a vent by default but it woukd be a good idea fir you to figure out how to flare off excess power through the greatest non damaging path of least resistance. Those marks may serve as a clue regarding how the excess energy naturally tends to leave you. Although given that you experinced purple flashes yiu might want to at least rerout it away from your head..." The wizard remarked.

After thinking for a moment he added. "It would probably take a fair but of of practice with the precision of your mana control/ metamagic. But it would be neat if you could work out how to reshape the overflow energy into a flashy vent effect of your own devising. Heh something like plasma jets/ energy wings flaring out of your shoulder blades or what not. Or perhaps a biter fit fir the chaotic nature of your magic might be crackling arcs of arcane energy that lance off you body. That woukd probably be dangerous to your surroubdings/ those around you but its something to maybe consider if yiu need to dump energy fast and there's nothing precious around you."

"In generally it would probably also be useful to draw inspiration from entropy. Look at the ways how energy naturally tries to disperse from areas of high concentration via thermodynamics. What was it that you were studying in the Navy again? If you were a nuke tech that might be useful. Heh think of yourself as a reactor. You need to engineer an efficient method of venting waste heat/energy." The wizard then further suggested.

"Hm, I think I might be able to..." She paused and extended her hands to her sides, before jets of brilliant purple light spiraled out of her fingertips and into space, forming a beautiful light show. That continued for a few seconds, but she suddenly stopped and clenched a hand over her face.

"Okaywhatthefucknotworking!" She lowered her hand a moment later, and in addition to the purple swirls all up her right arm the magic was now covering part of her face and her right eye had turned solid lavender. No pupil or iris or cornea, just a purple orb.

"This isn't fun anymore. Can we go home?"

"Yeah let's get you back to the clinic asap. Jegudiel should really take a look at this." Nate said as he reached out for her and warped the two of them back on board their vessel. The angel that ran the upper floor clinic of Manamart might not have had the same raw power as Nate but when it came to healing she did have several centuries of experience on him. Most importantly unlike Ama she hadn't spent the majority of them trapped in a monster's stomach. "Think you can hold on through the flight or would you like me to send you on ahead the fast way?" He could teleport her straight home but he'd need to stay behind to make sure their ships made it back safely. At the moment they stood floating above a mountain that existed as part of an extradimensional space of nested inside his TARDIS gumi.

Meanwhile N8-Thanos found himself quite pleased with his recent harvest. The last hold outs of sapient life on the world below had finally either perished or given into despair and joined his ranks. He now set his fleet upon the task of stripmining the planet and plundering it of all its material resources. "Waste not want not." The AI cruelly remarked as it looked down at the semi molten sphere below him. By the time he was done all that would remain of the planet would be a chilled husk of a now deadworld.

"Yeah, I think I'm good. I mean... Agh!" Light began to flow into her fluxed eye again, but more than ever before. She could see the full spectrum of color, but there were other things that she had never even imagined before; energies radiating between worlds, gravitational wells, and the small star of power that was trying to mentor her. She clenched her eye shut, thankfully blocking out the lion's share of the energy, and as she carefully covered him from view she opened it again.

"Holy hell... What's going on over there?" Out in the distance, a swirl of dark energies floated among the worlds, completely out of place with the natural beauty of everything around it. It resembled some sort of ink stain on an ancient masterpiece, and seemed utterly wrong to the core of her being.

"What do you mean?" The wizard asked. There was nothing but empty sky and wilderness in the direction Selina was looking at at least within this constructed dimension. Nate pulled out his phone and turned it over to use the mirror finished he'd applied to the back as a scrying window. He cast a locational scrying effect on the ship's exterior to peer around the surrounding space. His remote gaze swept around an unfolding view of panoramic space before him. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary to him at first. Just the black void of space smattered with the pinpricks of stars and gaseous nebulae. He was about to end his spell when a tiny anomaly caught his attention.

One of the the tiny points in the vast stary sky was magical. Formally structured and ordered magic as opposed to the chaotic flux of natural mana and forces. Spore was supposed to be a science fiction universe devoid of ordered magical systems and worse yet the longer he gazed upon that tiny point of ordered mana the darker and more malevolent it felt despite its twinkling glow. "Ok there's something out there that shouldn't be..." Something he certainly would have missed had it not been pointed out to him.

Selina's powerset was pretty spectacular and was still occasionally finding new ways to impress him despite her current lack of concious mastery. It had just done so again with this tip off as he asked. "Are you sure you don't need me to warp you home? I must warn you the flight back to Traverse is gonna need to be delayed though. That anomaly is too ominous to be allowed to go uninvestigated." His questioning voice was slightly grim.

"I should... I'll be fine. I wanna see what's going on over there. C'mon, let's do this before I change my mind." The amulet on her chest seemed to be pulling her towards whatever was out there, and as she focused on their task ahead the flux faded from her arms and face, leaving her eye as it was but the rest of it disappearing back into her skin. She intuitively knew it was still there beneath the surface, but the fact that it wasn't all over half her body was encouraging. Now she just needed to deal with the eye, and after a moment she found a long wrap of cloth that she tied around her head as a makeshift eyepatch. Not the best and she had no depth perception, but it would do for now until Nate could come up with something better.

"Let's go. Something tells me that thing shouldn't be left on its own any more than we absolutely have to."

The wizard issued a mental comand to one of his homonculi which proceeded to alter the ship's course. Soon they were in motion and shortly after the hyper drive gummi engaged. Normally the device was meant for hastening the transit time between worlds. When used as such within the comparatively miniscule confines of a single world even one of cosmic scales. It proved to be more than enough to launch from one end of a realm to another in mere moments. Almost as soon as the jolt of jumping into hyper space occured another jolt was felt as the ship dropped out placing them in front of a burning planet surrounded be a fleet of black ships.

"Well then, we've arrived and damn." Nate's vision had suddenly taken on what had at furst seemed to be a greyscale tint but now he realized it was an intense aura of death and necromancy radiating out of the planet. The magnitude of the suffering on the planet was so great that it was bleeding out into coterminous planes such as tge pocket the dimension within his ship that they currently occupied.

"Brace yourself Selina this is..." The wizard trailed momentarily at a loss for words with which to describe the magnitude of this situation. He proceeded warped himself and Selina to the bridge of the gummi ship to get a better view of the situation. Now that they were back on the same prime material plane as all that death... Nate felt his arcane senses get hammered by an aura of necrotic energy of unprecedented scale, at least in relation to anything he'd ever encountered before. He could almost feel a permanent mark being etched in his soul. For as long as he existed this experience would probably never leave him.

The wizard tried hardening himself to the sensation intending to power through and logically asses the situation. He soon however found himself saying. "That planet is dying... It was once richly vibrant and alive but now it is dying a slow agonizing death and that bastardly fleet is responsible." It was the slow, deliberate and prolonged torture of this world that struck him the hardest. Something like a deathstar would have been horrible yes but at least it would have been swift and compared to this a hell of a lot more merciful.

N8-Thanos instantly detected the arrival of a gummi ship not under his own control. The fact that it was composed of gummi material instantly informed him that the new arrivals were fellow interferences. Heh it seems that I've been discovered. The AI hadn't neccisarily been aiming to conceal his presence but he had calculated the odds of running into another interference in such a cosmicaly scaled world to be exceedingly low. He found himself highly amused by this development. Well then little interferences how do you intend to interfere?

Selina stared out the viewport with her jaw agape at the incredible armada of death looming in front of them. More ships than she could count, all centered around a burnt-out husk of a planet, and that wasn't even taking into account the raw negative energy she could feel radiating off of the entire spectacle. Everything about it was horrifically wrong, on a fundamental level that she couldn't even begin to describe, and all she could feel was an overwhelming need to destroy whatever horrific monster had wrought this kind of destruction on the world below.

"I... Nate, this is... What can we do about all of... This?!" She gestured wildly at the scene in front of them, completely at a loss for words to describe what she wanted to do to this thing.
