The bustling city of Agrabah had its usual amount of bustling through the bazaar marketplace as people bargained in coin and product for what they needed, a stark contrast to the quiet, shifting desert sands right outside its walls. The orderly chaos in the city could still be heard, but it was very muffled, leaving the desert outside its oasis walls only disturbed by the wind. All had been mostly silent out there since the Cave of Wonders had been risen previously.

It would come as no surprise, therefore, that a being garbed in a red robe appeared in a mere flash of light in the middle of the day and had gone completely unnoticed, even to the meditating being itself. This was the Robed Journeyman, who for the past few hours had been meditating on desert sands. He had not yet realized, however, that it was not always on the same desert sands.

Breath and focus, he said to himself for the fifteenth time that session. Keep your mind clear. He took a deep breath and let it out in a Symbol Song he expected no one to hear; after all, he was alone in the desert (as far as he knew), why would anyone except for himself hear such a thing.

And so he sat, meditating alone.

(Anyone can join.)

Rikka was rather annoyed. When she landed at Agrabah she expected to land in the actual city where she would be able to look around and get supplies. What she did not care for was being in the middle of the desert. And Rikka would have left right away if something didn't catch her attention. Some kind of song.

Curious Rikka walked toward the source to see a being in a red robe meditating. The light user went closer, keeping a close eye on the being but not doing anything to disturb it. Right now she was just going to watch.

The Journeyman realized he had been doing this for about an hour (if he knew what that unit of measurement was) and decided to open up his ears for a moment. He heard a couple things, one being the usual wind blowing through the desert. Today it wasn't too harsh, his robe could easily withstand it. The other was footsteps, which didn't immediately alarm him.

Keyword of that particular statement being 'immediately'. Then his brain registered that the footsteps weren't being made by him. His eyes snapped open, and what he saw gave him three conclusions.

Number one: there was a big wall with a door sitting a few yards in front of him.

Number two: there was a girl nearby looking at him, and she didn't seem anywhere close to his species.

Number three, figured out by the proxy of the previous two: Journeyman wasn't in the same desert anymore.

The robed traveler sprang up from his sitting position, looking around to try and figure out exactly where he was. After a moment of this, he locked lost and panicked eyes with the girl in front of him and asked, [Where am I?] Unfortunately, this came out as a series of random notes resonated by his power, Symbol Song. He clearly wasn't speaking English.

Rikka's curiosity went up again. The creature had noticed her and responded by...singing at her. Well it wasn't normal singing as Rikka could feel the power within the notes. Still that didn't really help the fact that she could not understand the creature, though it did seem to not be a threat just yet so there was no need for any light blasts.

"I do not understand you." Rikka said simply. It probably couldn't understand her either but it was worth a try. It was a shame that she didn't have all the knowledge the being of light had at its disposal. If she did she might be able to communicate with this creature.

Contrary to Rikka's preconception, the Journeyman could understand her quite well. And his primary reaction was applying an appendage underneath, and still covered by, his robe (presumably a hand) to his face in exasperation. Of course this wasn't going to be that easy. Still, he had to figure it out somehow or he was just, proverbially, running around in the dark. He started looking around again, deciding that his best option was probably to stay with this girl and see if he couldn't pick up some information on his whereabouts, as well as what his options were now that he didn't have a mountain to hike to.

Rikka raised an eyebrow at the creature. It face palmed which was a rather curious reaction. Now she could just leave the creature here but it was rather likely it would try to follow her since it seemed rather lost. She did want to learn more about it so Rikka would allow it to be in her company for the time being.

"If you can understand me, I am Rikka. This is the world of Agrabah." Rikka said. How it answered would hopefully tell her if it could really understand her or not.

By this time, the Journeyman had calmed down significantly and fully registered what Rikka said, learning her name and their current location. So he was on another world... that explained pretty much everything except how the heck he got here. He guessed that would have to be solved later, by someone who could explain the phenomenon better than a random curious person. Especially since he couldn't verbally ask in the first place.

To show that he understood, he nodded his head at Rikka twice. He then approached her again and bowed, saying [Thank you,] in his Symbol Song. He knew she didn't understand him, but he hoped his body language was sufficient.

Even if Rikka could not understand it wasn't that hard to understand what it was trying to say. Though Rikka had to admit, the feeling of being bowed to was something she enjoyed greatly. She would let the creature come along with her for the time being. Maybe she could learn a bit from it.

"Come along then. I have business in this city and you might find something to help you." Rikka said though she didn't really care if the creature found anything. She had her own things to do and if the creature could be a use to her she would keep it.

The Journeyman nodded and moved to follow Rikka. If nothing else, he needed to gather information and find out the nature of his situation. A new world meant new rules and new challenges, and he needed to figure out what those were before he ended up walking into something that would slaughter the unprepared. And that probably meant finding someone who could understand Symbol Song so he could pose the question in the first place.

The question was, was there anyone here who was like that?

Well, he would never know if he didn't look, and he might as well have a guide to do it with until he got his feet wet. Heh, feet wet... The Journeyman always found it strange that he knew that expression when he rarely, if ever, sees water on his usual treks.

Rikka walked with the cloaked figure into the market. She didn't pay any attention to those who were giving the two looks though it wasn't any surprise. A fully cloaked being walking alongside a girl in a kimono would attract attention in a lot of places. But such things didn't bother Rikka. She had things she needed and she had gotten some munny off of Heartless that foolishly tried to attack her.

Though the main thing was finding if there were anything worth buying on this world.

As they walked through the streets of Agrabah, the Journeyman couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed at the sudden mass of people concentrated in one place. At most during his journey back in his own desert, he had only met one other Clothite at any given time, but now there were whole swarms of people around him. He started feeling something akin to stage fright. And this only got worse when he realized there were a lot of people staring at him and Rikka. Granted, he imagined that an unusual sight such as himself would indeed attract a lot of attention, and Rikka's current state of dress... didn't exactly blend into the crowd, but the Journeyman still couldn't shake off the agitation and nervousness he felt at being singled out like this. The short version: he really wasn't used to crowds.

Instead of letting his emotions get to him, however, the Journeyman busied himself with looking around and finding a means of defense. If there's one thing those runes and hieroglyphs on his homeworld had taught him, it's that a huge mass of people in one place meant disagreements and even fights were bound to pop up somewhere.

Oh, and it only took about the third yank from a random little kid on his ridiculously long Flight Scarf before he finally wrapped the thing up and put it away. Best he limit annoyances before he started kicking someone.

If Rikka had any concern about what the Journeyman was going through she was doing a great job of not showing it. She seemed to be focused on her own shopping that she was at times outright ignoring the Journeyman. The light user at the moment was looking over some various cloths and as Rikka was a spending customer people were willing to ignore her strange outfit for the world.

Rikka did glance back the Journeyman and paused for a moment. "Here." Rikka said as she handed it some munny. It wasn't much of an act of charity as Rikka figured she could use this to get a favor later.

The Journeyman took the munny with some surprise, not immediately comprehending what it was. It didn't take too much looking around, however, before he guessed through example that he could trade these blue-and-yellow orbs for items at the vendors. [Currency,] he realized. He'd never seen any before, and even if he had, it wouldn't have been of any use to him. The only inhabitants he'd run across were the occasional Clothite creature and the war machines.

Beings in White above, the war machines. The Journeyman immediately started looking around for a weapon. In all of the excitement of finding himself in an unfamiliar place, he had completely forgot about the giant living ships that had given him a hard time ever since he had found out they existed.

He quickly found one in the form of a scimitar at a shop. As he went over to look at it, the shop owner started his advertising spiel, but the Journeyman only had eyes for the blade itself. Light, sharp, and relatively easy to handle, he decided he could do some decent damage with this at close range. He gave the vendor a handful of money, which looked to be satisfactory pricing, and walked away with the sword, sheathing it under his robe at the waist, quickly rejoining Rikka, and feeling a bit more comfortable. It seemed his new situation would have some perks.

Rikka nodded as she watched the cloaked being go and use the munny she gave it to buy itself a weapon. It was quick to pick up things and the fact it bought itself a sword was rather interesting. That thing must have faced some dangers before, enough to make it want to get something to defend itself with in case they faced something. Which in this universe would turn out to be a good thing. Rikka was interested in this creature and it would be no good if it died to Heartless.

Rikka turned and bought herself and the creature something to eat. She hoped it ate meat as it seemed that was the only kind of food in this area that was being sold. "Here." Rikka said as she handed it, its share.

Nowhere in his living memory had the Journeyman ever actually seen food, but he had a general idea of what it was. If he was to understand the runes on his homeworld correctly, this is what his people grew as sustenance before the cycle forced them to make a grueling journey on just the energy you started with.

He hadn't thought it would be this... fleshy, though.

Still, he tried it, and it was surprisingly good. And began to fill a hole in his gut he was previously unaware existed. He started gobbling down a bit more and hummed pleasantly. He would have to keep an eye out for more food to try.

That would have to wait, however, as suddenly Heartless popped up in their usual, unpredictable packs. The appearance of Bandits, Fat Bandits, and Crimson Jazzes sent the whole of the Bazaar's crowds scrambling away in a panic, and the piercing shrieks of the scared civilians put the Journeyman on edge enough to draw his sword. He didn't know what these things were, but the crowd's reaction was not a good sign.

Rikka scowled at the sight of the Heartless. She did not expect the creatures to appear in the middle of such a crowded place. Though it wasn't as crowded as most of the people left as soon as the Heartless appeared. Seeing her companion draw its weapon made Rikka step forward as well.

"Pathetic creatures of Darkness. You are nothing compared to the light I control." Rikka said. Rikka started glowing as she gathered her power and held out one of her hands. A beam of light shot from it and slammed into one of the Crimson Jazz's. Rikka smiled as it disappeared as she prepared another blast.

Rikka firing at the Heartless was all the indication the Journeyman needed to figure out these things were dangerous, and it wasn't long before he had his hands full with two Bandits and a Fat Bandit, who seemed to have figured out he was easy fodder. Thankfully, he was ready to prove that was not so easy the case.

As the Fat Bandit began to fire at him, the Journeyman activated his Flight Scarf and flew into the air above the fire. With some expert aerial maneuvering, he managed to land right on top of the Fat Bandit and went to town on stabbing the thing in the head. This kept him out of reach of the Bandits and (hopefully) out of the Fat Bandit's line of fire, at least for the moment he had before the Fat Bandit tried to grab him. It was close, but the Journeyman managed to squirm out of its grip and down its back, where he proceeded to finish the job by digging large slashes into its back with his scimitar. The huge Heartless disappeared in a cloud of black smoke, leaving the two Bandits coming after him as the only things he needed to fight off.

A two-on-one confrontation with the two Heartless proved to be much more difficult to handle, as the Journeyman still wasn't all that skilled in swordplay; in fact, for all intents and purposes, he was just now starting out. Still, his Flight Scarf and the condition of his body as a result of his lengthy journeys (where he was constantly on the move) kept him very mobile and able to dodge and block most of the attacks. It didn't stop him from taking a number of hits, damage he wasn't used to taking on this regular a basis, but if there was one thing he could do, it was stall for time until he could get some help.

In the meantime during this sword fight, Symbol Song was being spammed as a makeshift siren so that help would be sure to come as soon as possible.

Rikka watched as the cloaked being managed to handle itself rather well using a weapon it just bought. It should be able to handle itself for the time being so Rikka turned to some of the other Heartless. In front of her at the moment were some Bandits and Crimson Jazzes.

"Firefly." Rikka said as she called upon one of the actual spells she knew. Soon what liked like small insects made of light appeared around her and fly at the Heartless. The creatures didn't seem to pay it any mind until they were covered in a large amount of them. Rikka smiled as at once all the light insects exploded. Each explosion wasn't powerful but the sheer amount of them was where the damage came from.

Still there was another Bandit that was making its way toward her only to be struck by another blast of light.

As the Journeyman isolated himself atop a vendor stall, he finally realized Rikka had too many enemies to deal with on her own to help him. Great. Still, that didn't mean he couldn't be creative and get these things taken out by himself. Using his higher ground, he slashed downward at the two Bandits, dealing considerable damage in the time he had. Unfortunately, the Bandits managed to break the stall the Journeyman was standing on before they could be destroyed, leaving him cornered and surrounded.

He tried to fly away, but it wasn't long before he dropped to the ground. Surprised, he took a look at his scarf and noticed he was out of Symbol Power, the fuel for his flight. Not only that, but it looked like with each hit he took, the scarf had gotten shorter. Just like with the flying war machines.

The Journeyman fought for all he was worth, but with the two Bandits double-teaming him and a Crimson Jazz coming his way, it was clear he was too outnumbered and too outgunned to survive in this state. And looking over at Rikka, he could only think of one option.

The Journeyman blitzed through the Crimson Jazz's attempts to bomb him and took a slice at a Bandit that would have taken Rikka by surprise, getting its attention. He then took several risky moves to destroy it, and he succeeded in his task, but the effort left him with zero Flight Scarf to work with.

And then the worst happened.

With the two Bandits and a Crimson Jazz attacking from the rear, the Journeyman didn't have a single chance to dodge. The damage he took from the combined attacks of the three were far too much, and he ended up unconscious on the ground, his vitals quickly dropping. It would not be long before he would be dead on the ground.

(Don't worry, he doesn't get finished that easy.)

Rikka looked over just as her cloaked companion went down. She scowled at the sight as she gathered more light around herself. She rather liked that creature and she would not let the Heartless get away with hurting something she liked. "Flash." Rikka said as she held up a hand and the Heartless stumbled back, blinded by the bright light that came from Rikka.

"Light Rain." Rikka said next as arrows of light fell from the sky. The arrows seemed to only fall where the Heartless were focused and the sheer number of the arrows overwhelmed the Heartless. The few that remained were blasted by Rikka's regular beams of light.
