"You... Kantia, right? Been a while, it's good to see you again." Stone smirked and nodded at the quiet girl, knowing better than to pry into her speech patterns. It was always amazing to her, the sorts of people you run into in places like this. She had even met Calvin well before really meeting him on Skyrim. Of course, waxing nostalgic for those simpler days wasn't going to get them anywhere, and for that she didn't have any real plan.

"So, anyone know where to find him? I mean, we could...always..." She trailed off as motion at the very edge of the light caught her eye, and if she knew the way these worlds usually worked that was something worth following.

"C'mon. This way." She bounded off after it, wondering whether this was really part of their quest or just a terribly-laid trap that they were idiots for falling into.

Edd patted Kantia's back. "We're gonna get him. Er. I'd point the way, but fuck it. Fate's got ther plans for us then." A shrug. He'd taken a lookup into the situation and nodded. Something was up here, and while he could get some idea of what was going on...he needed the future to occur the way he saw it.

For now?

He followed.

"You guys met before, right? Makes sense...Just follow what I say and things will turn out as best as they can." The young jedi simply walked along...He shrugged and took the chance to create the Mahacuitl of energy again as he chased after...

"Yeah... Met." She looked at Bastian now. She remembered him too, one couldn't just simply forget an Asmodian. He looked a little out of it. Kantia walked over to him, the little soul following.

"Hey. Need help?" She asked and cocked her head to the side as the Dragon crawled back over as well. Then the three little squirts. She had a lot of pets it seemed. Kantia picked up the squirts and put them back in the bottle.

Kantia questioned if she actually could help Bastian... But she could try?

Bastian blinked, the light of the soul illuminating a face that looked paler than usual. The world always moved a little too quickly after a death, and ending up somewhere beyond his kisk didn't help. He stared at Kantia, her face for a moment not fully registering...

Oh.

"Kantia. What a coincidence." He put his weapons away and tried his best to look put together, even as he looked askew from a light that felt a little too bright to tolerate. "I'm fine. It's just the aura of this place."

He glanced towards the others - there was the beast-eared woman, and there was someone in hooded garb. They'd talked of a lot of things - of rescue and fate - and then the two of them charged into the gloom. "They're leaving us behind... we should follow." It meant going in the opposite direction to wherever the exit was, but if someone was trapped in this place...

Making sure that he wasn't leaving Kantia behind, he followed the others in their pursuit.

The strange shadow flickered constantly on the edge of the Interferences' field of vision, barely ever resolving into more than shape in the fog of the Underworld. Deeper and deeper, it led them into the depths of Hell itself, past countless other passages and corridors.

The screams of the damned only rose up louder, and some could occasionally be seen in barred off alcoves, screaming in ancient and dead languages; some in pain, some in anger, many in regret. Occasionally, they would pass over a bridge where great masses of them were herded along like cattle and whipped at be demons of various shapes and sizes. Some even sporting physical disfigurements that had twisted their bodies into unrecognizable shapes, while others were covered in so many scars it seemed like they lacked skin entirely.

And through it all, the screams only grew louder.

Eventually, the figure leading them vanished, leaving the group in the middle of one such bridge. Down below, demons and Heartless stoked a great fire that could be felt even from high above. Jagged, rusty spikes jutted from it, glowing in the intense heat. Countless members of the damned could be seen impaled upon them screaming out in utter agony and fruitlessly begging for death to find them once more.

And, among them, the burned and bloody form of Calvin Roberts, screaming and crying for release.

Stone followed the shadow, barely able to keep track of it even with her heightened senses, and after a while she started thinking this wasn't even a decent trap. Clearly, this thing had no idea where it was going, except it clearly did, which meant she was following it to somewhere she knew not and that just seemed like a bad plan on all accounts. Then the damn thing vanished from sight completely, leaving them stuck on a bridge in the middle of hell. Stone turned back to the group, annoyed and tired of the chase, when something caught her ear and she whipped her head around as she peered over the side of the bridge.

There he was, the source of all this trouble.

"Sweet, got eyes on him... Any suggestions on how we get him out of there?"

Edd simply followed the path without a doubt. It wasn't as if he was actually at a loss where they were going, he only simply followed the strands of fate. Still, watching Stone try and chase a shadow was amusing to him and he chuckled.
"It's not easy to be alive in the land of the dead, no. " He said over at Bastian...Keeping Kantia close. He was worried about her and honestly wanting her safety.

"We got a few options here. I have a feeling we're already meddling with shit we technically shouldn't, but we didn't come here to sight see.

Most direct way is to just grab and run.

Not sure but I feel like that'll bring the wrath of Hades and Cerberus on us. We can also try and figure out what he knows BEFORE Doing that, but he doesn't look like he's in a talking mood..."

Edd rubbed his chin..
"Dammit.."

Kantia nodded to Bastian. She looked towards the creature and gave chase after the other two. The winding corridors, the screams of the dead that faded and amplified at random in the distance, it would get to her. And she wasn't too much of a runner, when they finally reached the bridge, Kantia was out of breath.

She panted and looked over the edge... There was Calvin... Or at least that's what Stone said. She couldn't really see him, he was surrounded by other spirits and the like. Her eyes scanned the area down there, but she couldn't see him. Kantia stood back up... Her mind was racing with ideas, but... None of them came to fruition. How could one g- she had rope... Probably not enough rope. Plus... There was a lot of stuff down there...

Kantia sighed heavily and leaned against a wall, deciding to just... Catch her breath.

As the group walked, Bastian felt the grips of soul sickness leave him, leaving only the sheer pressure that this underworld inflicted on him. Did the others feel that, or was it something that he, as a daeva was more sensitive to? He couldn't tell. But beyond that, there was the weight of the atmosphere, the echoing screams of the dead, twisted beyond recognition. Was this the fate that awaited all of the dying? Or simply those who died in the worlds beyond? Oblivion would be better than this.

And to think this hellish place had tried to claim him.

When they came to a halt on the bridge, he peered down into the flames below, eyes burning red as he observed the twisted bodies. Somewhere below, there was their target, among the rest of the suffering. He didn't know which one it was, and he couldn't just pull them all up. The others seemed to be at a loss.

Well, someone had to take the first step. Shedim lords, protect me. I don't need to die twice today.

"I'm going down," Bastian declared, stepping up to the edge of the bridge. No aether, of course, in this Aion-forsaken place, but the rising heat from the flames below would carry him nearly as well. "Find a way to mark him. An attack if necessary. I imagine we can't make his situation any worse."

He took a deep breath and jumped off the side of the bridge, simultaneously opening his wings in a flash of light. Circling like a vulture, he began a slow, circular descent around the edge of the fire pit, his eyes alternatively scanning the fire pit and glancing up towards the bridge, waiting for the signal.

It was a good plan, or as good a plan that could realistically be made under the circumstances. The biggest flaw in it, however, was that demons and Heartless were not blind.

One of the demons, an emaciated humanoid that vaguely resembled most stereotypical depictions of the Devil, pointed upward with a long, bony finger as Bastian descended on the thermals. It screamed out in a tongue that was physically painful for most to hear, and Heartless responded, jumping up and out of the flames. Fiery Globes hopped around like demented crickets, jumping around the crags and jutting rocks, while Red Nocturnes and Crimson Jazzes flew up, the tips of their wizard hats glowing with Fire energy.

More hellish voices called out to the Heartless, and from the depths of the bonfire emerged two very disparate Heartless. The rotund Volcanic Lord, spinning its staff over its head, and the lanky Trickmaster, contorting its body into impossible shapes as its flaming batons twirled about.

Stone watched Bastion circle downwards but grimaced when things immediately started going wrong. It seems the creatures they were dealing with were not, in fact, complete idiots, but they were lower than she was. Her accelerator spun up at a thought, but a moment later she simply unslung the huge rifle hanging from her back and braced herself against the bridge as she started shooting. The demons around the edge of the crater weren't hard to deal with, but she really had no plan for the big guys that had just put in an appearance, and leaned over to try and see where Bastian had gone.

"Spirit dude, get out of there now! There's no way you can fight that thing!"

Edd huffed...He had a bad feeling something like this was going to happen before, so he had something special in store for when the situation got this bad. "Kantia...! I'm going to call it, make sure the ship's ready!" He nodded and raised his arm into the air.

"Rise, Rider!" The young jedi said, and there was a rumbling above as he did. All he'd have to do is wait. For now, he shook the mahacquitl and started it up...Then threw it at the Nocturnes in the air. His eyes glowed green.

"PK Telekinesis!" The beam katana began to float...and danced a deadly dance in the swarm, Edd clearing the path for Bastian in the air...He huffed. It was strenous at this point, and he could feel random bits of information start to fill his mind with fuzz...still.

"J-just move! PK THUNDER!" A bolt of green lightning struck the firey globes, eldritch electricity arcing from heartless to heartless!

Kantia watched the edge of the bridge and called the dragon to her and began rummaging around in the pack that it turned into. She pulled out a gun and took aim. Much easier to use than a bow. In her mind anyway. Kantia lined it up, she didn't have any sights on the thing but she had some pretty good aim overall.

She squeezed the trigger, the high powered laser lancing through a few of the weaker Heartless and down to the ground below, surely doing something to the forces down there. It had been upgraded recent to the more powerful Firaga-G. But... With the added power came more knockback and no testing for it sent her flying back. The good news being that she didn't fall off the damn bridge.

Okay, lets not use that firing mode for now. Kantia flipped a switch on the gun and took aim once again.

Bastian had expected retaliation, though perhaps not to the extremes that were thrown towards him. He banked hard as a flurry of fireballs shot past him, close enough that his feathers might have charred if they had been flesh. I've pulled too large a crowd, he thought, a sentiment that was only confirmed as the Volcanic Lord and Trickmaster emerged from the flames. Far too large a crowd.

Another flurry of Fire spells came at him, and he rolled in midair, letting them crash against his wings rather than his body. The air wasn't safe anymore, not as long as he was relying on wind to keep him aloft. He watched the movement of the swarm, catching the clear path made by Edd's dancing blade, and dove through it before it had a chance to close. A outcrop of stone became his target, and he hit it at high speed, scrabbling with claws and talons and wingspurs for purchase against the stone before the Fiery Globes could reach him.

Somehow, he managed to pull himself to a place where he could stand upright, and drew his greatsword, clearing the few heartless that had reached the outcrop with a wide sweep. He folded his wings and turned to survey the new situation - the others had the skies covered, but he didn't know if he could take the two massive creatures on the ground on his own. But maybe, from here, he could find an opportunity...

The Fiery Globes were relatively easily dispatched, being so low in health, basically dissipating as soon as they were hit, only a few persisting for two hits from Stone and Kantia's shots. However, there were simply so many of them that it didn't really matter if a few of them fell as they hopped up the cliff. Even with Bastian slicing more of them to ribbons, a fair number still remained, hopping and jumping around him.

The Red Nocturnes and Crimson Jazzes, while they weren't having nearly as much trouble with the shots as the smaller Heartless, were also contending with Edd's telekinetically controlled sword in addition to the bullets. Their main saving grace ended up being their larger health pool, much larger in the Jazzes' case. Their group ignored Bastian entirely, floating up toward the bridge with a few of the Jazzes already starting to conjure their bombs to track the Interferences upon it.

And, as for the two high level monsters, their movements where much slower and slightly more cumbersome, especially in the case of the Volcanic Lord as it floated upwards to join the party attacking the bridge. The Trickmaster, however, took several contorting steps toward the wall and began to ascend it, its limbs twisting and extending as it scaled the rock face like some sort of grotesque spider... heading right for Bastian.

Right, shit. This was definitely not going well and if they stayed where they were any longer, even the high-level Interferences would get swarmed and torn apart. Stone saw it coming and stowed her rifle again, now favoring the speed of her shotguns over the raw power of the Hecate, but even that wouldn't be enough to stop everything coming for them. Besides, they had bigger problems. With a resigned sigh she touched off the accelerator, slowing the fight to a standstill, and dove clean off the bridge.

Gravity still affected her and she fell with a practiced grace into the almost unbearable heat, dropping onto the time-stopped Volcanic Lord in the middle of the veritable cloud of heartless. She knew she didn't have long, not unless she wanted to risk overcooking her gear, and as she deactivated it with a twitch of her wrist she slammed her boots into the thing and opened up with both barrels at it as fast as she could fire for a second or two, then kicked away and extended her left hand. The sigil on the back glowed brightly once more, letting her vanish in a puff of smoke and reappear on the ledge where the heartless and demons had been before they started clearing house.

"Holy hell, we need a better plan..."

Edd swallowed hard, retracting the blade back...He felt the ebb and flow of destiny and traced it's waves...Trying to find the path to his desired outcome. It felt like grasping a fish in the ocean, but he managed to find the rhythm of the movement required to dance and strike at the enemies closing in..He huffed and said "I'm gonna fucking go Magician's Red on you assholes!" He shouted, his eyes sparking green. "PK Fire!" Instead of creating fire, however, he began to force the flames launched at them to either flicker or veer off course from their positions...He heard the loud sound of clanging and stayed close to Kantia...protective.

"I've got a plan, don't worry! Just buy us some time...She's coming for us." Off in the distance, a figure stomped and charged through the guardians...going to find its master and pilot...
It wasn't a glorious machine, by the standards of the world it came from.
But it's hard not to appreciate even a workhorse little mech like Rider's tenacity.

Kantia was taking care of the small ones as fast as her teeth bullets fired from a machine gun could do it, which was pretty fast, but the horde was large and her ability to dodge incoming fireballs weren't so great, either getting hit or just barely avoiding the flaming ball of magic.

Her attention soon focused on the magic casters, firing at them and trying desperately to dim those numbers. "Edd, how long until it arrives?" Kantia shouts at the psychic.

Bastian watched the swarms of spell-heartless fly upwards, and with a growl he prepared to draw them towards him, only to be disrupted by the shuddering of the rock face. Swiping away another cluster of Fiery Globes with his greatsword, he hazarded a look over the edge of the cliff to see the Trickmaster ascending the wall like an arachna.

"Right..." Well, if it wanted to attack him while he had the high ground, then it could be his guest. Bastian had fought (and died) to things bigger than this. He stepped back from the edge, swapping his greatsword for sword and shield. The cliff he was felt sturdy, but with a solid enough hit with an extra burst of aether behind it...

With a roar he smashed his shield against the rock, sending sparks of light and energy skittering across the surface. And then again, shifting his position, looking for the place where the stone was weak enough to start to crack, sending chunks of rubble cascading down the cliff face.

"Come on, just a little more...!"

It was honestly a testament to just how powerful a group of Interferences could be that the horde was starting to to thin out.

The Fiery Globes -- while numerous -- were still finite in number, and the sustained gunfire had done their numbers no favors. Even now, with the magic users drawing the brunt of the fire, there were far fewer than they had been even moments ago. Indeed, only a small handful actually made it to the bridge from the initial mob; not that it stopped them from charging at the Interferences, but -- again -- Heartless weren't very smart.

The magic using Heartless weren't much better off; stone had dodged the initial attack of the Jazzes by jumping off the bridge entirely, letting the bombs following her explode harmlessly in the air, and Edd's psychic fire had pushed the rest out of range of the two that remained behind. More to the point, as long as he was able to keep his psychic hold on their magical fire, none of them could easily approach the two for a direct assault.

The Volcanic Lord probably would have grunted, if it had had a mouth. As it was, it was just forced back and wobbled in the air as Stone launched off of its corpulent figure. However, as she landed, it finally managed to find its metaphorical footing, and spun its staff over its head. Flames kindled around the weapon, and it was hurled at the wolf-girl, spinning like a flaming buzz-saw through the air.

Back with Bastian and the Trickmaster, things weren't going as well as he would have probably liked. Yes, the ground was quaking and cracking form his Aether-infused shield bash, and there were decent-sized chunks falling off of it, but they either missed entirely, or were too small to make much of a difference to the boss Heartless.

Things weren't looking good for him... until a thin arc of red electricity sparked across the ground, playing about along the cracks the Bastian had already formed.

The ground crumbled, and a good portion of the ledge Bastian stood upon went crashing down with all the force of an avalanche, though not the part with him on it, strangely. The massive boulder slammed into the Trickmaster, sending it cashing back down and into the fiery pit itself. The Heartless's arms and legs still flailed about form under the rock, meaning it wasn't dead, but it did leave a (relatively) safe path behind for the others to cross.

A path that put the glowing spike impaling Calvin within reach.
