Traverse Town. A center of Interference activity in the inner worlds as well as the Multiverse as a greater whole. It was a hub for many of the most powerful Interferences in all the Worlds. A reluctant knight, a psychotic blacksmith, a spineless tinkerer, an overly curious wizard; and these were only some of the ones worthy of note. Some considered themselves to be protectors, heroes destined to make a difference. How ironic that many of them had been responsible for a great many incidents they supposedly protected against. Every instance of chaos and destruction; it in some way, shape or form all led back here; back to this festering hive of fools and children masquerading as gods. They were—all of them—unworthy of the gifts they possessed.

0m3ga would show them their folly.

It would begin here. It would shatter this world and any that would stand against him. It would shatter their preconceptions of their lives and show them the futility of resistance. There would be no stopping it; there would be no challenging it; there would only be a choice: to leave this place and scatter to the winds, or to remain, to fight, and to die at his hands.

0m3ga settled his warframe into a stationary orbit around the dimly lit world, close enough to feel the pulsing of the eldritch might, far enough as to be invisible to the naked eye. The world was positively aglow with unnatural power. There would be more than enough for his purposes.
The AI would remain where it was for a time and begin syphoning the energy it knew was there, gathering its strength for the coming assault. Perhaps the inhabitants of the world would discover his work, perhaps not. The discovery would matter not.

The end had come to Traverse town and nothing would stop it.

With its strength properly gathered, 0m3ga began his decent into what he records referred to as the Third District. It ran calculations and simulations on possible situations it might encounter.

Tabby was doing as her master bid her do daily in the way she always did: by lying amongst the clouds. She once tried to lie upon one, but the dust dirtied her clothes and the water left her soaked. She made a point of avoiding them since. She still made sure to stay above the clouds to avoid being seen by those above.

What she was not expecting was the figure who approached above. He was a towering figure wearing armor.

She was inquisitive, wondering who shared these skies with her, and she flew up to approach, taking care to announce her presence as she approached with a wave and a "Hi!"

0m3ga turned its head. “You are a powerful one. You shall serve as my first example.” An armored hand rose towards the creature. The dark energy surrounding it formed a tangible field of gravitational force that allowed 0m3ga to manipulate the being closer.

The nanites comprising his frame reacted to the presence of magic and began their replication protocol. They spread outward in a cloud of gray, covering the female in mana siphoning machines that channeled power directly to his power core.

“Your power is mine now.”

Despite the completion of her transformation, she was still a magical being. The draining of her life's energies caused her organs to grow weak. She lacked the strength to remain conscious, and ceased being so.

He fly spell ended, but the mass effect field kept her suspended. She hung limply in the air, subject completely to the armored stranger's will.

0m3ga drew the girl towards him and placed her on his back, forming a protective layer of nanites that rapidly hardened into armor. With his new power supply secured, 0m3ga continued his descent until he eventually made landfall. The were more targets to eliminate.

Out for her daily security tour, Jane didn't expect very much to happen. Maybe a few heartless, maybe some odd disruptions from the NPCs, but nothing particularly interesting or important. As she stepped through the door to the Third District, though, she was greeted by the sight of a large, oddly-shaped robotic entity just touching down near the fountain. She paused and ran her higher senses over it, coming up with a large pile of confusing and contradictory information. This thing was piecemealed together from at least two different sources, and the bulge on its back was radiating energy from a totally different part of the mystic spectrum that it seemed to be absorbing. Definitely Interference.

"Hello there. May I ask your purpose and intentions?"

The auditory receivers built into 0m3ga's cranial cortex detected a series of vibrations traveling through the air. The vibrations formed into sounds, the sounds into words, the words into a question. The entity tilted it's head in the direction from which the question originated and beheld the thing masquerading as a person of flesh and bone dressed in black. A quick consultation of the archives stored in his memory banks told it everything that it needed to know about the thing of metal and circuitry.

"My purpose and intention are the same," 0m3ga told it. The nanites drew upon the energy source on it's back and began to rapidly self-replicate. They coalesced at its finger tips briefly before forming a long, blocky shape that gained definition with each passing second. The purpose behind the shape quickly became clear, though. The hand clutching it rose until the long barrel of a massive cannon was level with the ground.

"They are your destruction." A squeeze of the trigger sent a swarming red mass at the thing. If words were not enough to determine intent, then actions most certainly were.

As soon as Jane realized what the thing was doing she focused on the cannon, and the instant he fired Artemis materialized in front of her and sliced the projectile apart before it ever reached her, before vanishing back into the ether. In the meantime, the robot herself leaped up the side of the nearby building from balcony to balcony, and through her wireless connection to George's defense network she set off every invasion alarm set up around town. She wasn't great at dealing damage, but there were plenty of people around that were.

A small body flew over the area, she could sense magic. Lots of it. It was all bundled in one location. Her interest piqued as she flew closer. Soon the small fairy found the Third district. Her crystalline wings sparkled in the light of the neon signs.

She could see the nanitr swarm be cut in half by another mass of magic and a body jump out of it into the distance. The much larger mass of magic was... Familiar almost but very different. She recognized designs of the Tenno, but the inclusion of magic and its hostile nature was very different.

She placed her hands on the wall beside her. Crystal spikes grew from the wall and soon launched themselves at the creature that had taken a familiar shape. If it survived this then she would probably have to run but she would act as a distraction well enough.

The sudden surge in eldritch forces exerting influence on the area caused 0m3ga's energy reservoirs to spike briefly. The curious avatar's appearance hadn't been far outside of its calculations by any stretch nor was it's near-immediate disappearance. The probability of it remaining for more that a moment was infinitesimally small, but the possibility was one that the algorithm had entertained as the best possible outcome.

It was of no consequence.

0m3ga was about to reengage its current opponent when it's sensors detected another surge of energy. The mechanical neck craned in the power spike's direction just as a pair of spears collided against his kinetic barriers. Another pause in the battle allowed it to consult the archives for the necessary information. The fairy was of little interest right now. The true threat was standing atop a roof some small distance away, calling for aid in whatever way she could. It launched a mass effect field fairy that would drastically reduce her weight as it turned its face plate away the other robotic entity. It drew upon the innate aura of the area and applied another mass effect filled to its frame. Then, it accelerated towards the guardian

Nate found himself bombarded by the suddenly triggered effects on countless contingent status effects. Tabby was in trouble. The wizard suddenly warped to the heart of his sanctum. An constructed plane with a hyperbolic time flow where he began scrying and divining how he might rescue his apprentice. Time and time again he tried to lock his view onto the source of the threat only to be met by blackness. Worse yet all projected attempts at personal intercession ended with the blankness of death. Not just the momentary blips that preceded a resurrection. Not these were true permanent ends. Game over, end of the line. No matter how he tried to tweak the parameters of how he'd go into save Tabby it always ended the same. The wizard spent months of accelerated time trying to work out some path to the salvation of his apprentice but his senses were too obscured save for the ever present confirmation that it would be the death of him.

Eventually in bitter frustration the wizard gave up on trying to save Tabby. He drew back on that objective and tried instead focusing on protecting and preserving the town in general. Unfortunately to his mounting horror his magic revealed the apparent impossibility of surviving any such attempts along those lines as well. He divined again and again scaling back the loftiness of his ambitions with each iteration of his spells. Again and again he was met with darkness and the implacable finality of game over. The wizard burned through further months and eventually years of accelerated time trying to find solutions to no avail. Years of intense casting that unnaturally leached the color from his hair well before the proper natural time frame for such a development.

With his mounting age came a growing sense of despair as he finally saw a tiny glimmer of hope. He wouldn't be able to survive saving anyone through personal action. But... But if he sounded an alarm for evacuation right now. If he called back to the mart all who were willing to heed his warning. He and at least a small fraction of the town's population had a guaranteed chance to survive. A chance to survive and attempt to deal with the aftermath. With grim resignation the wizard returned to the prime material to attempt delivering his message.

First he contacted his staff, apprentices, George and Sarah. <We have an incoming Ketter class event of undetermined nature. All possible courses of direct action on my part will result in permadeath as far as my magic can determine. I advise immediate evacuation. Advise all who can do so to make their way either to the mart, or otherwise the fastest route offworld.> The wizard concluded this announcement with a weary sigh as he began preparing to sever the ties that linked the Mart to this plane. If there were any questions he'd explain as he worked. There was no more time to dally for this was work he had to do from this side of the temporal discrepancy.

George had heard the call and decided...He was going to make his stand here. The young man flew back towards Traverse, seeing the havoc already being wrought. It was taken for granted that the Joes attempted to intervene, but were struck down by this new threat. He had activated the Siegfried armor. His chest pained...the name hurt him, and...perhaps in a sense he knew what his destiny was here. Nate did say it was certain doom. His destiny...
A knight, on his way to die for the kingdom.

He never understood why he ever felt he could change anything. Vigilante and Virtua were by his side, now, Virtua fighting like a berserker as she spurred the war machines on vs. 0m3ga, mechanized walkers and attack helicopters and every manner of robot and machine that George had created in some vain attempt to become Traverse Town's God.

Ryoto too was arriving to the sounds of the fighting as the resources of Traverse Town's defenders poured in...His keyblade at the ready.

I guess it's my time, soon. An inner voice said, only to him. An echo of something else...Perhaps it'd make sense in time.

For now, George and Vigilante armed themselves, trying to make out their target. A revving motorcycle signaled off in the distance that a masked rider would join the fray. A small army of half-baked heroes, not quite ready for the responsibility thrust on them.

Sarah had thought the message was a nightmare for a moment, some brief hallucination that had set her heart racing. But she could hear the chaos outside the shop, and see the army of Vendbringers converging on Third.

Doru growled beside her, his fur bristling into points as they stepped outside. There was... something happening beyond the doors. A fight.

Keter class. Permadeath. Immediate evacuation.

'Shit.'

There was a digital screech beside her, as a small dragon became a large one. "Sarah," Doru growled, his almost childish voice ringing over the low rumble in his chest. "What do we do? Do we fight?"

"...we have to get as many people out of here as we can. Get them into Manamart." She turned, clambering on to Dorugamon's back. "Whatever's happening over there, we can't let it get into the shop. If that means fighting... then we fight."

Dorumon nodded. "Okay." He took off, winging towards towards Second, and Sarah tried to tell herself that the sick feeling in her stomach was just from the lurch. They'd survived plenty in the past. They'd survive this.

They had to.

As the hulking robot accelerated towards Kiru, her body was slow to react. Still, it was fast enough. her hands came up, a small crystal shield forming on her arms so that it would deflect a bit of the damage she would receive. The fairy would still cry out in pain as her body would still slam against the wall.

Kiru wouldn't be going down without a fight, however small. Her body would be ripped apart before she let this thing destroy the town, if that was its goal. With her back pressed against the wall, crystal began to form.

0m3ga decelerated almost immediately after impacting the fairy. That she was still alive was enough cause for a brief pause as it recalculated. Such an event would not occur again; it would insure that with the next blow. It never came for there was another pause as it registered several new readings. Dozens of robotic entities were rapidly approaching and numerous spikes all along the mystic spectrum were spiking in multiple areas. One was synonymous with registered wavelengths of a keyblade, however the most powerful was centered in the workshop known as Mana-Mart.

The fool wizard was attempting something.

0m3ga intended to see it fail.

However, there was still the matter of the small army converging on its current position. They would need to be dealt with, even if it meant that the fool would escape. He was an issue that could be dealt with at a later date. Powerful though he may have been, the fool was still flesh and was prone to the faults therein; there would be a mistake made and it would be seized upon. For now, there was force to dismantle and turn towards a better purpose.

The machine intellect turned its attention back onto the fairy before it with a slight tilt of the head. She was a thing of magic; it suffused the entirety of her being; how unfortunate for her. 0m3ga drew upon that energy and used it to double the production rate of its nanites. The steadily growing swarm pushed out in all directions, gathering and transferring more and more energy from the mana-rich world. It idly tossed a powerful singularity field in the fairy’s general direction and followed through with a shockwave traveling along the ground. Whether the attacks connected would be irrelevant; the unstable field would detonate when met with the shockwave.

It then turned its attention towards the first of the unmanned helicopters winging its way towards the battlefield. The nanite cannon clutched in its hands rose as input commands; then, it fired. The swirling, red mass flew true and impacted against the copter’s hull. The change began soon after.

The nanites went to work altering the machinery, twisting and perverting its original purpose. The tiny machines infected the software, dismantled and reassemble the weapons, power core, and armor into something more suited for true war, and altered the cutesy, cartoonish appearance into something altogether more utilitarian. In the course of mere seconds, the machine was warped into a true tool of war that exchanged roles from that of defender to aggressor. It took to it new purpose well as it turned about and fired upon it’s fellows so that they might share in its fate.

0m3ga took to the air using a small singularity to lift it’s frame aloft and fired upon every machine within sight. Some were turned towards capturing the denizens of the world while others turned upon their fellows to delay their advance or retreat. When the force became sizable enough, the host spoke with one voice.

“Come, false idols. Come and face the doom of your era. The end of your reign.”

George closed his eyes. Like he was so foolish to think that his defenses couldn't be subverted. Virtua woman wasn't so weak, either, and after the first time the protocol went from engagement to detonation. Explosions waved out from the front lines as Virtua changed tactics. "They want soldiers? Fuck 'em!" The soldiers went from warriors to suicidal creatures, the ones that Om3ga stole already annihilated by their own who went nuclear. They weren't suited for true war, but they WERE defenders. That meant anything, even their lives. The power of the Light Engine meant that a blinding light occurred with the detonations that were set off, and each force Om3ga attempted to subvert would begin their detonation process as soon as they could register.

Meanwhile,a certain bartender was following Sarah...easily directing the Average Joes into protecting and directing the civilians out. [Let's move, people.] He said, gruff and strong...Ryoto approached her. "What's going on? Something...something's wrong."

At the same time, their creator was seeking out the source, his armor ready. Vigil stood by, as they approached where Om3ga was starting out.

"Come out here. I hear what you're shouting...Your philosophy 101 bullshit doesn't scare me." George said, Vigilante nodding. "We prepared for this. The world isn't safe. Not while things like you are alive and out there." He readied a blade of energy.

The Kamen rider, Kenjiro, rolled in towards Kiru. "What happened?" He turned and stepped forward. "...Dammit, this thing. This kaijin isn't anything I haven't seen before." The Kamen Rider took a stance. "People like you think that just because you have overwhelming force, you decide what's right. Who should live and who should die. People's lives are worth more than your ambitions." He readies himself.

Nate had already seen this entire day play out hundreds of thousands of times over the course of his frantic time dilated search for a solution. He was absolutely sick of it and all the horrific permutations of how it could possibly play out. As the wizard unmoored his demiplane from its formerly coterminous placement in relation to traverse it became more and more of a truly sealed space. The only ways in or out would be the portal entry ways linked to the mart, the library, and the park district dungeon. Already Omnath was funneling it's mana bloated form into the nearest portal. The elemental was a mana battery of staggering proportions but in all the dead end scenarios Nate had seen sending it in to engage the enemy never helped. If anything Omnath's arrival always seemed to hasten the grisly end, leading the wizard to conclude that whatever the approaching threat was it was likely some phenomenon or entity that either fed on or was bolstered by magic. The wizard could feel Tabby was still alive and if he suspicions were correct it was likely she was only still alive due to her value as a font of energy.

He shuddered to think what would happened if the thing ever got ahold of Selina. Even Omnath paled in comparison to the dangerous levels of energy that girl presented. The wizard cared for all his apprentices and staff but above all else the most vital person to evacuate from a pragmatic standpoint was the sailor senshi. In all the scenarios he'd seen, her confronting the darkness led to an even swifter demise. In some cases, one that had the signatures of being initiated by the girl herself. Fortunately Selina had been incredibly reasonable when he'd explained why she wasn't to engage with the threat.

The final deadline to close the remaining links to the town approached. Anyone who had failed to cross the threshold in time would be abandoned without a moment's hesitation. It pained Nate to leave people to die, but in every single iteration of events he'd foreseen... The blankness in his vision would overtake the portals if he dared leave them open any longer beyond the approaching time limit. It would get into the mart. And in that scenario no one would survive.

"Everyone, keep moving!"

Sarah wished she'd made an evacuation plan. She wished she had a way to make the people move faster. She wished a lot of things, but it was far too late for those. Another group of Joes began to twist, and Doru reacted without command, launching a sphere of iron into the mass. It hurt to have to do it, but she'd already lost enough people to those guys. Who knew what that thing was going to do with them.

"False idols? We were just trying to live here, damnit..." She directed Doru downwards, landing next to Cuppa. "Cuppa, get yourself and as many Joes into Manamart as you can. Something's infecting them." She bit her lip, and continued. "If anyone shows signs of turning, then you can't let them in, no matter what."

Doru snarled, and Sarah turned to see Ryoto approaching. She hadn't really met the guy, but he was a friendly face amidst the chaos. "Something... something big. Bigger than we're equipped for. We're evacuating as many people as we can, but this..." She sighed, and Doru spread his wings. "Get to the Manamart. Get as many people as you can to the Manamart. And then get out of here."

Sarah looked up at 0m3ga, floating above the town she'd finally started seeing as a home. She wasn't going to be able to hide away this time, was she? "Doru, let's go. We gotta keep pushing people through."

The digimon tilted it's head to stare at Sarah. "What about you?"

"...I'm not leaving the others alone."

Doru stared, and slowly nodded. He spread his wings and took to the skies. There was George, and Vigil, and the shifting army of robots. Doru hung there for a moment, and with a roar he dived in to the fray.

Kiru didn't need to think as Kenjiro asked her what was going on. She didn't need to think as the shockwave collided with the unstable singularity. Her crystal rapidly enclosed around Kenjiro and she would let herself be damaged by the resultant explosion. It wouldn't break the crystal like that. Even with all of the energy in the singularity. Her crystal was formed of magic and was flung with magic, but after that it was mundane for the most part.

It was why when removing a rock that they would drill first then put the stick of dynamite in. But the fairy herself didn't know this about explosiones. Kiru just knew that they hurt and that defending against them she needed a shield.

The crystal around Kenjiro would vanish and Kiru would be standing there, burnt on her legs and face, but her torso was fine. She was tired from defending something bigger than herself. "Don't you know... To not get hit with the most obvious thing in the world?" Kiru asked the Kamen Rider.

Suicide tactics?

A foolish and desperate measure.

And ultimately futile.

0m3ga pulled it's remaining forces back from the front of the conflict, leveling any obstruction in their way. They made a fighting retreat back towards Third district and set kill boxes and traps along every entrance and avenue to hold back attacks.

"This world is unsafe due to your very existence," 0m3ga said. "You Interferences disrupt the balance of the worlds that you claim to protect. Your presence invites challenge, heartless, monstrosities beyond your feeble comprehension. You fashion yourselves as defenders bringing hope to the desperate masses of the Multiverse.

"And yet you do not see the carnage and destruction you leave in your wake. You do not see that it is in your misguided attempts to save the Multiverse are ultimately what will be its undoing. Logic dictates that the only recourse is the elimination of the Interference Phenomenon." It leveled an eyeless stare at the robotics savant and his son, at the foolish, idealistic kamin rider, at the devilishly innocent fairy, at the brooding human and her abomination.

"If that ambition requires your utter destruction, then so be it." It drew upon the mana rich source on it's back and tripled nanite production. The little machines spread outward in every direction, absorbing and channeling energy back towards their source. They spread them over the shattered remains of the detonated robots and machines, cobbling them together in to working wholes. As one the new army rose to whatever now served as feet and begun their task anew, seeking to capture and temporarily re-purpose organic material and engaging enemy forces. The force would continue to reconstitute itself from blasted remains as it continued to search for the source of the opposition.

"It will begin here, at the center of your arrogance." 0m3ga charged at the already wounded fairy, sweeping its sword around as it decelerated.
